Full Professional Biography

An Atlanta native guided by one consistent purpose.

Robert Bonner, Jr. is an Atlanta native, author, educator, and Georgia-licensed insurance professional whose career has been guided by one consistent purpose: helping people understand complex information and use it to make thoughtful, informed decisions.

For more than two decades, Robert has worked across education, curriculum development, instructional design, financial literacy, insurance training, and community learning. His experience includes teaching economics, finance, entrepreneurship, technology, and other career-focused subjects; leading an academic department; developing educational materials; training insurance professionals; and creating workshops for adult and community audiences.

Robert’s educational background gives him a distinctive perspective on Medicare education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management with a concentration in Corporate Finance from Morris Brown College and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Economics from Mercer University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education Management at Hampton University.

His education and professional experience allow him to combine economic reasoning, adult-learning principles, and practical communication. Rather than beginning with technical language or assuming that people already understand the system, Robert begins with the person in front of him. He breaks complicated subjects into clear, manageable steps and takes the time to explain how individual rules, timelines, costs, and decisions connect.

Robert has been licensed in Georgia in Life, Accident and Sickness, Property, and Casualty insurance lines since 2008. His Medicare education experience includes presenting Medicare Basics programs in communities across Georgia. He has also developed and led educational sessions covering retirement planning, personal budgeting, financial literacy, college funding, family financial responsibility, and related topics.

His professional training experience includes developing workshops and learning materials for adult audiences, creating presentation tools and facilitator resources, and translating technical insurance and financial concepts into language people can understand and use. His community involvement has included elder advocacy, mentoring, small-business education, and financial-empowerment programs.

Robert approaches Medicare education with a simple belief: people should be educated before they are expected to decide. He believes individuals and families are better prepared when they understand the basic structure of Medicare, recognize important timing considerations, know what questions to ask, and understand where to confirm current information.

That belief led him to write Medicare: I Get It Now! Medicare information is often presented in disconnected pieces. There is typically one explanation for enrollment, another for costs, another for coverage, and another for caregivers or household decisions. Robert created the book to bring those pieces together in a structured educational framework that readers can follow at their own pace.

His goal is not to tell every reader that there is one correct answer. His goal is to help readers understand the system well enough to ask stronger questions, recognize important decision points, and have more productive conversations with official agencies and qualified professionals.

Robert brings that same approach to seminars and speaking engagements. His presentations are designed to be welcoming, organized, and useful for adults approaching age 65, current Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers, families, libraries, churches, employers, and community organizations. His experience includes Medicare, retirement, financial-literacy, professional-training, and community-education presentations.

The standard Robert sets for his work extends beyond completing a transaction or answering a single question. He wants the people he is fortunate to work with to feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported. He strives to provide an experience that is so clear, thoughtful, and helpful that people feel comfortable introducing him to family members, friends, and loved ones who may also benefit from his educational approach.

Today, Robert continues to combine his backgrounds in education, economics, financial services, and community engagement to help make Medicare information easier to understand. His approach is one of educating—one concept, one question, and one carefully explained step at a time.

Why I Wrote the Book

Medicare information should connect, not confuse.

I wrote Medicare: I Get It Now! after recognizing that many people encounter Medicare as a collection of separate rules, deadlines, acronyms, costs, and coverage explanations.

A person may receive one explanation from an employer, another from a government publication, another from a family member, and another from an insurance professional. Even when the individual pieces are accurate, it may still be difficult to understand how they fit together.

I wanted to create an educational resource that organizes those pieces into a clearer framework.

  • Understand how Medicare’s major parts and coverage pathways relate
  • Recognize important enrollment and timing concepts
  • Organize cost and household-planning questions
  • Prepare for conversations with official agencies or licensed professionals
  • Help caregivers and family members participate more effectively
  • Move through the information in a structured, step-by-step way

The book does not assume that one decision is right for everyone. It gives readers a foundation for understanding the system and preparing more informed questions before taking their next step.

Educational Philosophy

Education before recommendation.

I believe people deserve clear information before they are expected to make an important decision. My educational approach is built around five principles:

I.

Start with the person, not the terminology.

The explanation should begin with what the learner needs to understand—not with industry language.

II.

Break complex information into manageable steps.

Large decisions become easier to approach when the individual parts are explained in a logical order.

III.

Explain how the pieces connect.

Understanding Medicare requires more than memorizing Parts A, B, C, and D. People also need to see how timing, costs, family responsibilities, employment, and other considerations may interact.

IV.

Encourage better questions.

I believe education should help people recognize what they understand, what they still need to confirm, and which questions deserve additional attention.

V.

Respect the individual’s decision.

The purpose of education is not to pressure people. It is to help them become better prepared to make decisions that reflect their own circumstances and priorities.
